In this entry we will try to describe a Chinese-made lithium battery. We’re talking about Liitokala NCR18650B model, one of the best-selling cells in aliexpress.

In this case the cells I bought them on my own. It is not material ceded by the seller.

The price varies depending on the number of cells that are purchased. The more cells, the cheaper it comes out (obviously). By way of guidance (at the time I write this) we can say that a cell can come out between 2 and 2.8€. Emphasize that they can be achieved for less by taking advantage of the promotions offered by the seller. I have come to get for 1.7€ by buying in each order 2 packs of 20 and taking advantage of a promotion.

One of the things I don’t like is that in Liitokala’s store, they sell the same cell in different “modalities”. Let’s say there are several products that are the same cell, but sold in packs of different sizes. It’s a little messy the truth.

In the case of buying the pack, they come more “in bulk”, with a bubble paper. In any case it is more than enough packaging. In the following image I show you how I have received orders for 2×20 units:

Comments I have placed several orders of 40 units like the ones you see in the photos, and I have never had to pay customs (remember that the destination was Spain).

The shipping time is quite high. In my case the destination is Spain and it took me eight weeks. I have already placed several orders and have always taken me more or less the same. Also comment, which although it takes, I have received all the orders without problem.

If you look good, you can see that the cells in the photos have tin at the positive and negative poles. These are cells I’ve already used for some tests. Naturally, the ones sent to you by the seller have no tin.

Its finish is very good. They have nothing to envy from original cells.

Conclusion of Liitokala’s NCR18650B battery

With an advertised capacity of 3400 mah, we are talking about one of the cells with the most “theoretical” capability.

In conclusion and on paper, we can say that they are good quality/price cells. We will perform a few tests, both capacity and life cycles in the review we are doing.

With the data that we have obtained in the tests, we can say that it is a cell that fulfills what it promises, and that it has a quite reasonable degradation. I think it is a safe option to carry out projects that require a large number of cells due to their capacity/degradation/price ratio. However, I would not recommend it for projects that require a high discharge current (current greater than 4A), since the cell gets quite hot.
